I love, LOVE these two flower cards I made for my mom's birthday in September last year.
By this time, I had discovered Michael's craft supply store, and I made Adam take me there every time we went to the 'burbs to visit his parents. I found really cute patterned paper and a variety of paper punches.
This first card was actually something I didn't think would turn out as well as it did. I punched out a bunch of daisies and kind of randomly glued them on top of the vase. I then added my favorite, the yellow puffy paint stigma, to the centers. I then punched out a lace border, and voila! I gave my mom (paper) daisies on her birthday!
My parents live half a world away and I'm almost never with them on their birthdays (especially my mom's), so it is always important to me that I try and let them know that I never forget their birthdays. I made a card for Adam to give to my mom, too:
You can't tell very well from the picture, but I used foam tape to glue the flowers to the card so they would stand out.
Now that I look at them side by side, I just realized that these two cards are a great showcase of the different kinds of things you can do with the same tool. The vases for both cards are punched out from the same punch, but the two cards look entirely different!
I miss my mom, and I wish her health, happiness and lots and lots of good fortune on her birthday, and forever and ever.
