I've been working long hours the past few weeks and just recently realized that I neglected to memorialize my dear mom's birthday on my blog! Even though I wasn't there in person this year, I made a lovely lantern card for her, and packed it along with really nice Lancome products and earrings and a bracelet that are perfect for her, and sent the package on its merry way overseas.
My cards make me so happy. I hope it made my mom's special day happy, too. My parents haven't visited me in New York for a few years now, and I'm hoping that once they retire next year and settle into the awesome new city that they are planning on moving to, they will come for an extended visit. It would be quite nice to have family nearby; I haven't had that for a long time.
I would love to rent a short-term furnished apartment for them, and they can explore the city to their hearts' content and use it as a base to travel up and down the Eastern seaboard and visit my brother in Boston. (Lest you think I'm some kind of dutiful daughter, I also periodically threaten to stick them in Confucius Plaza in the heart of Chinatown if they aren't nicer to me.)
I am very low on ready-to-give cards, and will need to have a card-making fest soon to stockpile ones for when I need them. Plus, I'm still brainstorming on that Thanksgiving card challenge I set for myself in the last post. I want to make something seasonally appropriate, but not blatant or cheesy. Something that invokes Thanksgiving instead of proclaiming it, if you know what I mean. I still have a little bit of time, but something tells me that if I don't seriously get on it soon, it will be like the song I'm supposed to compose in my Spanish/Flamenco guitar class this week...
... non-existent.
