My cousin Sharren got hit one extra time with the baby stick... and now she's carrying two at the same time! She is happily expecting IDENTICAL TWIN GIRLS! It was totally unexpected, and I hear that she (and my aunt) freaked out when they were told, but I was tickled silly!
Sharren got married about a year and a half ago; I had my flight all booked to attend her wedding, but due to circumstances beyond my control, I missed it. I was pretty upset that I wasn't part of her big day because even though I haven't seen Sharren in years (she currently lives in Singapore), she and my other cousin, Andrew (Sharren's brother), have always been close to my heart. I almost feel like we grew up together, even though we've lived in different countries all our lives.
I keep wanting to do a little jig whenever I think about it: Not only am I going to be an auntie, I'm going to be an auntie twice over! Even though in American culture, the two little ones are my "first cousins once removed" (ugh, it sounds so stiff and formal), in my culture, they would probably call me Auntie, since I'd still be their "elder".
I passed by a street fair on my way to Borders last week, and had a genius (ok, not so genius, but still great!) idea: Little I Heart New York onesies from the New York Auntie!
I went home that evening and made a special card for Sharren. I had been hoping someone would have a baby so I would get to use my new baby carriage stamp, but I never imagined that the recipient would be someone so close to me. Moreover, I never, ever imagined that I would be able to get two usages out of my new stamp on one a single card!
Congratulations! Twins are so fun- esp girls!! Love the stroller stamp and the NY onesies!
ReplyDeleteok I lie, there was a small coffee stand at terminal 7 (AA) to hang out if Andrew comes. But then again, it's really terminal dependant... you should ask him what airlines he's taking.
